Segment of A Mother's Remarks on a Set of Cuts for Children, published in 1803.

These 'playing cards' were used as methods of teaching vocabulary to children; the Mother's Remarks includes numerous pages with definitions and explanations for each set of illustrations, used as a teaching resource. These cards were created as a way to spike the interest of young students at home while also teaching them lessons about religion, seeing as some cards alluded to spiritual teachings.
