This educational resource was originally published in 1690 and served as the most influential schoolbook for students in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Included in the primer were pages of the alphabet, religious teachings, poems, illustrations, and hymns for children. The page reproduced here includes examples from Christian doctrine, rhymes, and cautionary tales about discipline.
